The Great Wall
(Chang Cheng) - a symbol of Chinese genius. 6350km long and taking 2000 years
to complete, it extends across northern China. "He who has not climbed up
the Great Wall is no hero," a Chinese saying goes. Ming
Tombs - the general name given to the mausoleums of 13 emperors of the Ming
Dynasty (1368 - 1644). The site has a high cultural and historic value because
of its long history, palatial and integrated architecture. Tiananmen
Square - sits at the very heart of Beijing, measuring 40 hectares and can
accommodate up to one million people. It is one of Beijing's most modern sites
and largely Mao's concoction. This is not only the physical centre of China, but
also the centre of power and politics. A must- see for travelers to Beijing. Forbidden
City - also called the Palace Museum which is in the heart of Beijing city,
was the residence of the ancient rulers of China. Occupies 72,000sq km, the entry
was forbidden to all but those on imperial business until 1911. The wall is 10
meters high and measures 760 meters from east to west and 960 meters from north
to south. Inside the enclosure are 999.5 rooms. For more than 500 years, 24 emperors
of the Ming and Qing dynasties lived in there. The
Temple of Heaven - built in 1420. China's most famous temple where emperors
used to come to pray for a good harvest during the first lunar month of each year.
It covers an area twice as big as that of the Forbidden City and actually is a
royal garden with large tracts of wooded land but few buildings. Summer
Palace & Kunming Lake - the largest ancient preserved garden in China and
a former summer retreat for Emperors. The site includes more than 100 ancient
style pavilions, mansions, towers, halls, temples, bridges and an enormous clear
water lake. Occupying an area of 290 acres, the Palace is as vast as it is spectacular.
A rare chance in Beijing, to relax and escape the smoke and crowds of the city. Hou
Hai - Young generation of Beijing citizens call Hou Hai 'a Paradise of the
city', for it's romantic atmosphere created by the lake and the pubs and bars
alongside. A worthwhile place for a visit to see the Chinese culture mix with
the west. Wangfujing
Street & Donghuamen - has a history of more than 100 years. The
street, which is less than one kilometer long, is lined with shops. The best-known
shop is the Beijing Department Store. The Oriental Plaza, which is considered
another miracle in Chinese architectural history, stands just by the south entrance
of Wangfujing. Beijing
Roast Duck dish dates back to the Ming Dynasty, about 600 years ago. Almost
every part of the duck (except the feathers) can be made into hot or cold dishes.
This is called the "Complete Duck Feast". The duck head is usuallyfor
the guest of honors, but if you cannot face it you do not have to eat it. |

Army of Terracotta
Warriors - The tomb of the first emperor who unified China and his huge terra-cotta
army which were buried underground for 22 centuries were discovered in the 1970s.
Over 10,000 individual pottery soldiers, archers and chariots stand in battle
formation and looked fierce and real. The scale of the collection is very impressive
and it is once in a lifetime visit to China. Bell
Tower - situated in the heart of the city, the tower was traditionally used
to tell the time. Ancient
City Walls is the most complete city wall that has survived in China. Fang
Gu Street - a pedestrian street close to the Xian Musum. Shops alongside are
built in ancient style and are gathered mainly for calligraphy interests. |

Famous
for its distinct mountain range and mild subtropical climate, Guilin and Yangsuo
are so often seen in Chinese paintings and films. Li
River Cruise - the river passes an endless procession of peaks, water buffalo

Flute Cave - the thousands of years natural rocks form an extraordinary underground

Shanghai, 'the
Pearl of the Orient' is a cosmopolitan city in China. If you would like to see
the modern China, Shanghai represents the best. The
Bund - famous quay waterfront with ancient colonial buildings, modern towering
skyscrapers over looking the mouth of the Yangtze. Yu
Garden - Situated not far from the Bund, with old streets and tourists style
antiques. Oriental
TV Tower - On the banks of the Huangpu River, the tower was once the highest
building in the city before Jinmao Building was completed. Jinmao
Building - the tallest building in China, it is worthwhile to take the ultra
fast elevator to the top to enjoy a bird view of the city. Inside the building
there are various restaurants and bars and the Grand Hyatt hotel. Xin
Tian Di & the French Quarter - a very charming and buzzing district. Visitors
may feel that they are viewing the olden days of China but once stepped inside,
the atmosphere reflects to a dynamic and characteristic new Shanghai. The south
block of the Plaza shows you the modern architectures of today, where the north
block preserved the old antique buildings with modern interior. Aside there are
plenty restaurants provide international cousins, shops and pubs. Shanghai's
Railway - many of our travellers requested to take the trip to the airport
this way, after they saw it. You have to see to believe it. |

About an hour drive
from Shanghai, is the little known Venice of the East. The ancient water village
has little changed for hundreds of years. Take a stroll through the village and
it is also worthwhile to have a boat ride if you have time. |
